There have been four weddings on our family farm in Indiana. My parents, mine, my cousin’s, and my sisters. The farm has been the stomping grounds for the Frey family for generations, and this fall we welcomed Cheryl and Kanon as the fifth wedding. And though they are not related by blood, they felt like a part of the family. It was an absolute joy for me to shoot their day. The weather was perfect, the setting was perfect, the couple was perfect. I got up early that day and watched the sunrise over the empty chairs on the ceremony lawn. I didn’t sleep well because I kept thinking about how I would shoot this wedding. I just wanted them to be able to hold on to that day…forever, just like they will hold on to each other. I wanted so badly to give them the photographic evidence that this day was perfect…because it was. I hope they love these photos. I hope I got everything they wanted…because they deserve it.
